Great balls of fire!!!!

Just when you think your kid is responsible and thinks things through before they do something....

Tani was asked to go to her very first official babysitting job last night. We felt good about it since it was just a couple houses away and Tom would be home if she needed any help. Luckily all went well there and there was no problem. She loved it and did very good. She cleaned up a carpet spill and entertained the kids well! She really liked the pay! That was fun for her!

But back at home after she returned we were finishing her Valentine box for school. She had decided to make a toaster. It turned out really cute. But it needed a finishing touch. I had an old extension cord that we decided to add to it but we just wanted a couple of feet coming out from the toaster so we cut the extension cord and stapled it into the toaster. I was very careful to say to Tani and Tia while we were cutting the cord that this would be VERY dangerous to do if it were plugged in. We would NEVER do anything like that with it plugged in!

Well, we finished up the project and for some strange reason Tani, who must not have been thinking at all, decided to PLUG IN HER TOASTER! Not a good idea! Remember it is cut and stapled to her box! Holy Cow! We are grateful that she wasn't shocked or our house burned down! There was a big pop and a fireball about 2 inches in diameter! Luckily the breaker box did it's job and it flipped a breaker! But smoke came through the toaster just as if you had burned your toast!

It gave us all quite a start! Especially Tani! We decided to break the tongs off of the plug so no one would be brain dead at school and try the same thing!

Tia made a really cute Littlest Pet Shop stage Valentine box. Hers was much less dangerous! I will have to download the pictures for all to see!
