Going back to day one of the trip.

We were excited that we were one of the first direct flights from SLC to Tokyo! It was so nice to know we would not have any layovers! We were planning on a 12 hour flight but unfortunately, due to some volcanic activity in Russia, our flight was redirected which would add a few more hours. :( We ended up being in the air for 14 hours and 8 minutes. But as you can see we were all in good spirits and looking forward to landing in Japan!



It is about 5800 miles from SLC to Tokyo. The flight was quite nice even though it was long. The pilot who sat that huge plane down on the ground was the best! We could not even feel the touchdown! Thanks pilot! The touchdowns are my least favorite part of a flight!



Finally at the airport, Tyler waits while Dad and Cam go to exchange our USA dollars for Yen.

My first view of a squatter toilet. Didn't have to use it, just took a picture. However, there were a few times throughout the trip that a sqatter was my only choice.

I was grateful to see that this was the bathroom in our hotel room that we stayed in for all but 3 nights of our trip. The Hotel Monterey Honzomon was a nice place to stay. A lot like a room on a cruise ship because of it's size, but very nice and clean with a very nice staff.

The added luxuries of our hotel toilet. In fact, almost all of the toilets, (except sqatters), had these amenities. My favorite was the heated seat!
